OPENING WITH A BANG: Though Osaka Dadada-Dan Tenko, one of Japan's most spectacular drum groups, were formed by Isaya Mondori in 1987 their current tour of the Middle East is their first visit to the region. The group has already performed at the Damascus International Fair, at the Baalbak Festival and at the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts.
Now Egyptian audiences have an opportunity to hear their unique blend of modernism with tradition when they appear at the inauguration of the Citadel Festival on 10 August (8pm, admission free) and, on 12 August, at the Sayed Darwish Theatre, Alexandria.
