IBRAHIM NAFIE, board chief of Al-Ahram organisation and editor-in-chief of the daily Al-Ahram, announced on Tuesday the appointment of Hani Shukrallah as executive editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Weekly.

Shukrallah, the managing editor of the Weekly for over a decade, was delegated the chief editor's responsibilities during the past year, following the deeply mourned death of the Weekly's founding editor-in-chief, Hosny Guindy.

Shukrallah's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Supreme Press Council, a body of the consultative upper house of parliament, the Shura Council.
