Hassan Mustafa

Re-elected president of the International Handball Federation for a second consecutive four-year term. Mustafa received 84 votes out of a possible 134. His nearest rival, Sweden's Stefan Holmqvist, received 46 votes.

Mounir Sabet

Head of the National Olympic Committee, Sabet was awarded the highest order of the International Olympic Committee for his achievements as NOC president and his contributions to the region.

Ranya Elwani

Elected a board member of Ahli sporting club, Elwani also became a member of the players' committee of the International Olympic Committee in elections held in Athens.

Ayman Abdel-Wahab

The managing director of the Middle East and North Africa region of Special Olympics was chosen a member of the executive management committee of Special Olympics International, thus becoming the first African to hold the post.
