Holiday FAQs

Many important Cairo sites are currently closed, among them the Madrasa of Sultan Barqouq, Al-Ghouri Mausoleum, the Museum of Islamic Art and the Coptic Museum. Where may I find a complete list of places of interest that are not open to the public and, just as importantly, the date when each is scheduled to reopen?

Sincerely,
Jeff Hobbs
Maadi

According to Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) officials, Egyptian tourist sites are closed and reopened in rotation for maintenance and restoration purposes; at any given time you are likely to find some closed. For more specific information, please contact Ashraf Saleh, SCA public relations coordinator, on +202 735 4532 or +2012 259 4001.
