El-Bourini in one of her seemingly impossible positions

THOUGH the Dokki Shooting Club hosted the Under-10 national rhythmic gymnastics championship, its players came in second place behind Gezira Club.

Much of Gezira's success went to Heba El-Bourini who won five medals -- four gold and a bronze. The gold medals came in the all-individual event, the free-routine, the rope and the team event while the bronze was won in the ball.

El-Bourini joined her teammates in winning the gold medal in the team event and, thus, the tournament's cup for Gezira whose team included Aisha Neiazi, Passant Tarek, Farida Eid and Alyaa El-Kateb. The team is trained by a former world champion, Paulina Benklova of Bulgaria.

Gezira, Shooting, Sporting, Shams, Zohour and Al-Ghaba took part in the two- day event. Sporting came third.

Shooting Ahdab Wa'el and Hanna Mustafa were the club's stars. Wa'el won four silver medals in the all-individual, teams, free and the rope and one bronze in the ball. Mustafa collected a gold in the rope, two silvers in the team event and the rope and two bronze in the all-individual and the free routine
