ON SUNDAY, the African Football Federation (CAF) began a three-day inspection in Egypt of all the venues of the African Cup of Nations (ACN) scheduled to be held from 20 January to 10 February.

The team's first port of call was Alexandria which they visited on Sunday. The tour included the Borg Al-Arab Stadium. The Cairo inspection took place the following day. The delegation toured Cairo Stadium and the Military Academy Stadium. Ismailia and Port Said were the last stop on Tuesday.

The team was led by CAF first vice president Seyi Memene. Other members were CAF General Secretary Mustafa Fahmi, CAF Communications and PR Division Director Suleiman Habuba and CAF Secretariat Sherin Arafa, in addition to Amadou Diakite, Amos Adamu, Mohamed Raouraoua and Suketu Patel.

The inspection is to test Egypt's readiness to host the showpiece of African football. Egypt has won the African Cup a record four times, tied with Ghana and Cameroon. Tunisia is the defending champion.
