ON ITS EIGHTH year running, AutoMech offers consumers a variety of automobile options.
Proceeding from 22-26 June, AutoMech brought everyone together ranging from the average car shopper to the eager automobile connoisseur treading along with a digital camera. It seemed like Egypt's entire auto industry was present in the exhibition's seven display wings. Spare parts importers and manufacturers were also displaying their products, which ranged from brakes and wheels to automobile maintenance services.
A French automatic two-cylinder piece of work caught a lot of attention at the exhibition; the Petite is open from both of its sides. Designed to fulfil the same functions as a quad runner, its promoters believe it may become a popular mode of transportation on Egypt's beaches. With a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour and 505 cc, the Petite is a trendy beach companion. Coming in red, blue, white, yellow or black, it is a fun two-seated summer toy for a price of LE65,000.
For those with outdoor aspirations, a Range Rover Sport aims to provide apt satisfaction.
An attractive four wheeler with a collection of top-notch options, the Range Rover Sport makes desert travel look like a walk in the park. With a mammoth 390 horse power engine, the car also boasts a touch screen satellite navigation system. Terrain response and a 4.2 litre supercharged V8 engine make it a reliable vessel on the harshest of landscapes. At a price tag of LE1,300,000 it is an up scale commodity for willing and able spenders.
The Citroen C3 established its edge through its efficient fuel processing and environmentally friendly design. To reduce the car's environmental impact its designers made sure that 90 per cent of the car's components are easily recyclable. A family oriented car, the C3 has a top speed of 104 miles per hour and a fuel consumption of 45.6 miles per gallon. Probably the most nifty of the Citroen collection, the exclusive model also includes a rear parking sensor. Detecting the presence of any object behind the car, an audible warning goes off in the cabin, warning the driver that there is an object behind the car. To ensure higher levels of safety, the vehicle's body block system offers energy absorbing side impact protection, thus limiting structural deformation upon impact. A small car that fulfils the needs of an urban family, C3 offers good performance at a value of LE82,800.
