Sufra dayma:

Veal with Creamy Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients :

4 medium - large veal steaks (thinly pounded)

3 green shallots (finely chopped)

200 gms. sliced canned mushrooms

1/2 cup dry white wine

1/3 cup tomato juice

1/2 tsp. sugar

1 tsp. soy sauce

1 chicken bouillon

2 tbsp. sour cream

2 tsp. oil

Salt + pepper + allspice

Method :

Heat oil in a large frying pan. Add steaks. Brown on all sides. Remove from pan. Add shallots to pan only until sautéed; (add more oil if needed). Add mushrooms and sugar.. Stir until sugar is caramelised. Pour over wine, tomato juice and bouillon. Bring to the boil. Add steaks, soy sauce, seasoning and simmer, covered, until steaks are cooked and tender. Stir in sour cream until dissolved and well combined. Remove from heat. Serve with sautéed vegetables and boiled buttered potatoes.
