EGYPT won a four-team friendly Arab football tournament in Geneva on Sunday after beating the UAE on penalty kicks 5-4 after a 0-0 draw in regulation time.

In their opening match Egypt thrashed Qatar 5-0.

The tournament, which included Egypt, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, was being held for the first time. It is scheduled to be played annually and with the participation of more teams.

Egypt will meet Portugal on 17 August in more preparation for the African Cup of Nations in 2006 that Egypt will host.

On the local scene, Ahli captured the Egyptian Super Cup after defeating Enppi 1-0.

The game, played on Wednesday last week, had gone into 30 minutes of added time after ending scoreless. Defender Wael Gomaa broke the deadlock when he latched on to a loose ball in the penalty area and fired home with his left foot.

The Super Cup pitted Ahli, the country's league winner, against the Cup holders Enppi
