For the media
PRIME Minister Ahmed Nazif earlier this week inaugurated the main media centre of the African Cup of Nations.
Nazif, accompanied by other ministers and high- ranking state officials, told reporters he was impressed by the fully equipped, world class media centre, located at the Cairo International Conference Centre. It will accommodate more than 2,000 media representatives during the 25th ACN.
Nazif praised the organisers for their effort in producing a hi-tech press centre to serve the media during the tournament. He wished the organisers and the participating teams all the best.
The media centre will be open to all accredited personnel 24 hours a day. It is equipped with more than 100 PCs connected to the Internet, telephones, faxes, printers, photocopiers and desks for journalists in addition to a recreation area.
The prime minister then visited newly refurbished Cairo Stadium, saying he was proud of the renovations.
Nazif's visit was viewed as a boost to the organisers shortly before the tournament kicks off.
President Hosni Mubarak is to attend tomorrow's opening ceremony and match between Egypt and neighbours Libya.
