![]() I am immensely proud of our national team. They courageously faced up to the Ivorian team and won the African Nations Cup -- and deservedly so. Goalkeeper El-Hadari was the real star of the show. He saved the day. But the others, too, were superb -- Tereika, Amr Zaki, Ahmed Hassan, Ibrahim Said and even poor old Wael Gomaa who bore the brunt of the Ivorians' rough play. And then, of course, there was Hassan Shehata and the 100,000 supporters in the stadium and the 70 million Egyptians who celebrated Egypt's winning of the cup for the fifth time. parent page (16 - 22 February 2006, issue #782) |
