Mohamed Sid-Ahmed was a most decent man, charming, suave and honest. But, above all, he was the leftist intellectual par excellence. I drew his head huge symbolically signifying his sharp intelligence. The lines of his face delineated his humanity and heartfelt concern for the underdog. He was a far-sighted and most enlightened man. We shall all miss him.
As I illustrate his noble features, I can almost hear his voice -- imperceptibly. In my exile in Paris, I hear his voice over the radio. I listen to his political analysis told in the authoritative tone of a learned man, one well-acquainted with world politics and the politics of our volatile Middle Eastern region.
I remember his big bold head, and the intelligent piercing eyes gazing from behind the thick spectacles. His huge nose divided his contemplative face in two. His was the face of the thinker, all absorbed in deep thought and reflection. He shall be remembered for all eternity.

Three scenes from a genuine life
