LAST Tuesday the Union for Arab Writers' general congress opened at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. This year the congress is hosted by the Union of Egyptian Writers, whose chairman, Mohamed Salmawy, is also chairing the event, scheduled to close on Monday 27 November.
