![]() The cowardly assassination of the Lebanese Minister of Industry Pierre Gemayel was an evil deed designed to throw the country into the throes of civil war. I illustrated Gemayel as the sacrificial lamb. His untimely death was a grim reminder of the grisly assassination of his uncle Beshir. The Gemayels have had their fair share of pain. I salute their resolute determination to survive against all odds. Pierre's father, Amin, and his grandfather, his namesake Monsieur Al-Sheikh Pierre Gemayel, have left an indelible mark on modern Lebanese history. Pierre, too, will go down in the chequered history of Lebanon as a martyr. May his soul rest in peace. Long live Lebanon. parent page (30 November - 6 December 2006, issue #822) |
