Star in the slow making
SALEM EHAB has won the gold medal in the under-11 50m freestyle in the national swimming championship. Ehab, who clocked 29.86 seconds, also won the silver medal in 100m freestyle with a time of 1:4.95 minutes. Together with his Ahli team, he won the gold medal in the 10x50m freestyle, 4x50 freestyle, and 4x50 mixed style, breaking the national record in the three events.
Ehab is taking the sport seriously thanks to his mother, Nesreen El-Gayyar, who is nourishing his talent slowly but surely towards perfection. El-Gayyar says she wants her son to be a continuous "glowing candle" rather than a flash in the pan, referring to the quick and early burn-out so many youngsters in sport suffer from as a result of heavy training schedules and demanding parents.
