ABDEL-RAOUF Ahmed Abdel-Raouf, 13, performed admirably in his first National Showjumping Championship level D last week in the Haras Al-Gumhuri (Republican Guards) Club. Level D has a sophisticated course and a bar height of a maximum 1:20cm, less than the international height by 30cm.

Abdel-Raouf came 12 out of 120 with his British horse My Lord which he brought over just 20 days ago. Both the knight and My Lord fit harmoniously together. Their first debut in the dressage was eye- catching and rhythmic. Their show jumping was a hit. He finished the course in 46 seconds with 16 seconds to spare.

It was the first time to have a national showjumping competition with close results and a local debut record of 120 horseback riders with ages ranging from nine to 40 years old.
