 Poor old Angela Merkel, the lackluster German chancellor, visited Egypt last Saturday. The woman is no colourful Margaret Thatcher, but Merkel means business and she is an excellent business partner for Egypt. Merkel is no spring chicken, but we welcome her with all our hearts. She is, after all, a woman of substance. I illustrated her as a wide-eyed belle, with weird drawn out artificial canary yellow eye-lashes and a cute little snub nose.
