The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays host to the Arab summit and what a significant venue it is. The kingdom is a holy ground for Muslims across the globe and even as the land is sacred, it has the world's biggest reserves of oil. Potentially, Saudi Arabia is an economic powerhouse for the entire Arab region, and Arab countries must give it its due. King Abdullah symbolises the stability and maturity of the kingdom. I illustrated him with wise, penetrating eyes. His nose, beak-like, reminds me of the sacred saqr (hawk) of Quraysh. May the sagacious Saudi king live long to help unify the Arab world and fight for the Arab cause. parent page (29 March - 4 April 2007, issue #838) |
