Anubis on Themes

LONDON is throbbing with excitement as the opening of "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs" -- the most hyped up British museum exhibition in the offing, scheduled for November -- approaches.
Posters featuring the splendid golden mask of Tutankhamun decorate the airport, and the city's main roads are full of New Kingdom Pharaohs, queens and gods. A life-size replica of the jackal-headed Anubis is boat-borne down the Thames.
The exhibition is a six-month event showcasing 50 objects from the Tutankhamun collection and 70 royal funerary treasures from the XVIIIth Dynasty. It has been held in Basel, Switzerland, Bonn, Germany and had an 18-month run in the US before returning to Europe.
