Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is very different from his late father Hafez. His features are softer and less melodramatic. But Al-Assad, the son, is just as determined and ambitious as the father. I emphasised the turned-up nose by which he snubs his detractors. He was, after all, the host and star of the Damascus Arab League summit.
