CAIRO giants Ahli confirmed their dominance on the local scene by winning their fourth successive Egyptian League title and 33rd overall.
Ahli claimed their fourth title in a row after resolving the 2007/2008 league title with five games to go.
Ahli finished with 70 points, 14 points ahead of runner-up Ismaili who took second place on goal difference to upend Zamalek, thus snatching an African Champions league place next season. Zamalek and Al-Gaish, who finished fourth, will qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
Aluminium, Suez Cement and Baladayet Mehalla were relegated to the second division.
Petrojet's Alaa Ibrahim was top scorer with 15 goals. Runner-up was Spinning Mehalla's striker Ahmed Hassan, who last week signed a five-year contract with Ahli. Hassan netted 11 times
