French writer Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio is the distinguished winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize for Literature. He is an elusive character, a traveller and an adventurer. I illustrated him as a wanderer. In his heart lives his Moroccan wife, yet he is no Orientalist. He is a free thinker with a creative imagination. He joins the ranks of 1988 Nobel literature laureate Naguib Mahfouz, and we wish the prizewinner all the best of luck and even more abundant success.
