  During separate meetings with Abbas and Peres, Mubarak attempted to promote continued Palestinian-Israeli negotiations -- against all odds, including the absence of an Israeli government  President Hosni Mubarak discussed with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris alternatives to operate the Union for the Mediterranean that they jointly chair in a way that accommodates Arab and European interests. The Mubarak-Sarkozy summit that convened yesterday also considered a tour d'horizon on bilateral and regional issues of common interests.
