![]() The death of Mahmoud Amin El-Alim, the wise old Egyptian intellectual, was a severe blow to us all. He hailed from the same genre of genius that included men of the stature of Taha Hussein, Salama Moussa, Abbas Al-Aqqad, Zaki Naguib Mahmoud and Tawfik El-Hakim. I illustrated him with an ancient Hellenistic head. Or, was it the head of an anonymous ancient Egyptian scribe?
