![]() Hassan Nasrallah, perhaps the repentant fighter who confesses his many mistakes, is facing reality at the moment. He has committed numerous political blunders in quick succession, but at least he has the dignity and decency to admit his shortcomings. I illustrated him with a head sculptured like a statue of a statuesque Roman statesman, or god -- like the statues you see in museums. I painted him as a wicked man who tries desperately to betray all and sundry and play the role of a mythical hero of antiquity. But then, he is a mere mortal, a dupe in the hands of the Iranians who use him as a pawn in a dangerous game whereby they try to undermine the interests of Egypt and the Arab world. parent page (16 - 22 April 2009, issue #943) |
