Development boost

PRESIDENT Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday signalled his commitment to promote development, inaugurating several factories and refineries in the Lower Egyptian governorate of Sharqiya. The multi-million pound projects were qualified by governorate officials as a clear sign of state commitment to invest in development. For his part, Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid said the factories fall within the pledged expansion of the nation's industrial capacity that the president committed to in his electoral platform.

Also on Tuesday President Mubarak inaugurated infrastructure facilities and low-cost housing projects.
