Star Award
THE STAR Alliance management team has selected EgyptAir, South African Airways, and TAP Portugal team to receive the Star CEO Award 2009. "The award is granted to individuals or teams that have made outstanding contributions to the values of the alliance corporation," stated Jaan Albrecht, Star Alliance CEO on Thursday.
"The selection was based on the contributions to the common IT Mobile platform CIMP project," he added as he announced the award in Frankfurt last week. EgyptAir IT team has demonstrated a remarkable positive record in term of IT developments, project initiations and alternate solution to cope with the tremendous requirements and projects under the Star Alliance umbrella. The winning team included five candidates topped by engineer Sayed Ayoub, Vice President IT.
"The EgyptAir team had contributed a positive technical role in implementing the Common IT Mobile Platform CIMP in the first phase that was successfully launched in August 2009," explained Ayoub. "Clients now can enjoy the new service, making inquiries about their tickets and flight status through a mobile device. We jointly, with the Star Alliance integration team, realised the need for an alternate solution to facilitate the implementation of the Star Alliance Upgrade Award (SAUA)," he added.
Almost a year ago, Star Alliance awarded Aviation Minister Ahmed Shafiq the Own Star award for his support to the airline and alliance's efforts to bring the national carrier into the world's biggest airline alliance.
