Changing of the guard


VETERAN journalist Labib El-Sebaai was yesterday appointed chairman of the board of Al-Ahram, replacing Dr Abdel-Monem Said who was in charge of the establishment for almost two years. Abdel-Azim Hammad, one of Al-Ahram's managing editors, will be the editor-in-chief of the daily, the post Osama Saraya filled since July 2005. In addition, Alaa Thabet was named editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram 's evening paper, Al-Ahram Al-Misaai.

The decision was made by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf after being agreed upon by the Higher Council of the Armed Forces.

Other changes in the print media include: Dar Al-Tahrir : Khaled Bekir, chairman, and Mahmoud Nafaa, editor-in-chief; Al-Misa : Kamal Abu Bey, editor-in-chief; Dar Al-Hilal : Helmi El-Nemnem, chairman; October : Mohsen Hassanein, chairman; Akhbar Al-Yom : El-Sayed El-Naggar, editor-in- chief; Akher Saa : Ibrahim Qaoud, editor-in-chief; Akhbar Al-Riyada : Gamal El-Zoheiri, editor-in-chief; Akhbar Al-Hawadis : Wael Abul- Saoud, editor-in-chief; Sabah Al-Kheir : Mohamed Hiba, editor-in- chief; Middle East News Agency : Adel Abdel-Aziz, chairman; Rose El-Youssef : Mohamed Gamaleddin El-Maadoul, chairman; Rose El-Youssef newspaper: Ibrahim Khalil, editor-in-chief; Rose El-Youssef magazine: Osama Salama, editor-in-chief.
