Hard times Ratna Sahay is deputy director of the Middle East and Central Asia department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She was in Egypt on the eve of the revolution as part of a regular Article IV mission, which had initially concluded that Egypt was well on its growth track. But ever since the revolution the economy has been under much strain. Sahay returned to Egypt last week on a fact-finding mission, in order to assess the extent of the damage.
