A sense of challenge
By Erminia Kamel
IN LE CORSAIRE ballet, at the Opera House this week, the sense of challenge is evident in the work of first dancer and soloists; each night the public can enjoy a unique performance. Everyone feels a special energy during the performances. Perhaps it's a message from the dancers, fighting. Last and not least comes the excellent baton of maestro Nayer Nagui, giving the perfect style and rhythm to an extremely difficult performance. The maestro has that particular gift of understanding the body rhythm of the dancers, allowing them to perform at their ease.
Still, the day of the opening night it was heart breaking to see so small an audience at such a beautiful and professional performance. It is hoped that publicity for ballet performances would be done in a more effective way, for the benefit of everybody.
