Entre Nous: Reduce that double chin

Let’s talk about better living! Our interactive family corner aims to expand our lifestyle horizons with practical little pearls of wisdom from the editor and input from our readers

Though double chins are harmless, they can be irritating. A double chin can really knock your confidence because you’re aware of it all the time and everyone can see it.

The good news is that it can be made less noticeable. So if you want to reduce that annoying double chin and stay beautiful, try these tips before opting for surgery as a last resort.

Vitamin E:
Vitamin E boosts your skin’s elasticity, as well as improving the general well-being of your body’s largest organ. If you’re not fond of foods rich in vitamin E, you can buy it as a supplement.

Tennis balls:
Hold a tennis ball in a vice-like grip between your neck and chin. Hold it as tightly as you can, pressing down firmly with your chin. Then release the pressure slowly before repeating the same action around ten times each day.

Chew gum:
This is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to eliminate your annoying double chin. Chewing gum makes for a very effective facial exercise. If you chew gum for a few hours each day for a few weeks, your double chin could be gone in almost no time at all.

Apply a few tablespoons of warm milk to your chin before massaging for about five minutes. Milk massages tighten and tone your skin, which is what you need to lose your double chin. Do this a few times a day for a few weeks. You could also make milk and honey masks, which work just as well.

Tongue press:
Sit with a straight back. Tilt your head so that you can see the ceiling and let your shoulders droop. Press your tongue up against the roof of your mouth before lowering your chin so that it comes down towards your chest. Try to bring it down as far as possible without feeling discomfort. Now relax your tongue and return your body to the starting position.

Cocoa butter:
Warm a few tablespoons of cocoa butter in the microwave and massage it onto your double chin and neck for up to ten minutes. Try doing this in the morning and before going to bed at night, and you could see results in just a few weeks.

Chin lifts:
This exercise stretches your facial muscles and makes them more toned and tight. It’s important that you exercise just your lips while performing the exercise. Start by sitting or standing and then tilt your head back so that you can see the ceiling. Direct your eyes towards it and then tighten your lips and “kiss” the ceiling. Hold this position for around 10 seconds before repeating 10 times.

Pout and tilt:
Either sit down or stand up before sticking out your lower lip to form your best pout. Hold this in position for about two seconds before contracting your frontal neck muscles so that you can bring your chin down to your chest as far as it can go. Pause for about two seconds before relaxing and returning to the starting position.

Green tea:
This works wonders when it comes to eliminating that extra layer of fat beneath your chin because it contains antioxidants that speed up the metabolism rate, helping you to burn extra calories. Try to drink as much as you can throughout the day for best results.
