Entre Nous: A home ready for Ramadan

Let’s talk about better living! Our interactive family corner aims to expand our lifestyle horizons with practical little pearls of wisdom from the editor and input from our readers

Ramadan is a special time of reflection as people deepen their self-control, spirituality, and compassion for those less fortunate than themselves. It comes but once a year, and therefore it is a good idea to take some time this year to recreate a welcoming sense of warmth and comfort in your home to get your family ready to celebrate the beauty of Ramadan.

Decorating your house to embrace the Ramadan theme can be quite an easy task, and you can use these tips to start a tradition and create magical memories with your family.

* Scatter lanterns lit with electric lights or candles around your house, terrace or garden to make it look celebratory and welcoming. You can also create your own paper lanterns as nothing can give your home a Ramadan atmosphere more than Ramadan lanterns.

* Put decorative lights or a sparkling moon with a simple star on your balcony or in your windows as there’s something about these shimmering lights that makes them vibrant with festivity.

* Adorn your hallway and living room walls with Ramadan calligraphy to add a finishing touch to your Ramadan gatherings when hosting family and friends for the iftar or sohour meals.

* Turn your shelf or console table near your front entry into a Ramadan display by placing oriental vases and jars on it.

* Finally, the whole family, especially the kids, should be included to get them to look forward to this special time of the year.
