Entre Nous: Stop wearing make-up

Let’s talk about better living! Our interactive family corner aims to expand our lifestyle horizons with practical little pearls of wisdom from the editor and input from our readers

Have you ever thought what it could be like to forgo make-up? Would you look tired? Less attractive? The best part about weekends, apart from sleeping in and catching up on gossip, is skipping the hassle of getting ready for work. No fumbling around with compacts and brushes and wands and just feeling free to go natural.

Here are some things that might happen if you decided to stop wearing make-up:

Looking younger: If you stick to not wearing make-up, you could look more naturally youthful.

More invested in skincare: You could make your skin look as good as possible while slapping on the serums and masks.

Feeling insecure: At first you might feel that your co-workers and friends are saying things about you. But don’t worry – no one will notice. And though you might feel a little self-conscious initially, those fears will be eased when you realise you suddenly have an extra half hour to spare in the mornings.

Becoming less stressed: Maintaining a beauty routine can be a hassle, and not wearing make-up can spare you from little anxieties and free up more of your mind for more important tasks.

A clearer skin: Between the foundation and concealer and blusher, there are so many layers of product on your face when you wear make-up. Many of us are probably not removing it all correctly at the end of the day, which means it’s left to stick in our pores. Giving your skin a break might clear up your skin in just a couple days as a result.

Realising you don’t need make-up: Once you go without make-up for a while, putting it back on can feel different. Instead of covering your face in foundation, you might find yourself just dabbing on a little concealer. Or instead of doing a full-on smoky eye, you’ll go for a light coat of mascara instead.
