Classics in Egypt: Toyota Land Cruiser 1975

“What I like most in my classic 4x4 is that it’s easy to deal with mechanically,” said Mahmoud Ezzeddin when introducing his 42-year-old Land Cruiser.

Parked under his house in Mohandeseen, tightly wrapped with a colourful car cover, is a unique, old 4x4 which raises questions as to what is so special about it.

Ezzeddin believes that 4x4s are built to be tough, and that classic cars in general are built to live forever. “Imagine both merits combined in one package,” says Ezzeddin.

Ezzeddin had to work hard to bring his Land Rover back to good condition, spending money and time, which added more love for the car in his heart. Now the car is paying him back with loads of joy ever since he started exploring the beautiful Egyptian deserts nearly every weekend, confident that his car won’t let him down. “The car doesn’t demand frequent service and it is very reliable,” said Ezzeddin with a big smile on his face.
