IN INJURY time and with the weight of the entire nation on his shoulders, Mohamed Salah calmly netted the penalty kick that sent Egypt to next year’s World Cup, thus ending a drought of more than a quarter of a century. The Liverpool star’s last touch of the ball sparked frenzied scenes of celebration at the final whistle as Egypt booked a spot in Russia in 2018. In the hours after Sunday’s epic 2-1 win over Congo, Salah had a school renamed after him in his hometown and earned a personal thanks from President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi. Salah’s brace — he scored the opener — made him the man of the match and Egypt’s man of the moment.
