Iraqi forces from the central government in Baghdad are now in control of the city of Kirkuk. They have been to the governor’s compound in the city, which previously had flown the Iraqi and the Kurdish flags, and have taken down the Kurdish flag. Kurdish Peshmergas flags around the city have been replaced by Iraqi ones, and there have been huge celebrations, with people pouring into the streets, mostly Turkmen or Arab, firing guns, honking horns and parading with flags.
