A fresh start for 2018

The New Year is always a good time for life changes and fresh starts. It is a time to surround yourself with positivity and to let go of the negative people in your life.

Though sometimes difficult, this can be necessary, setting boundaries for people who are holding you back or weighing you down. Whether they’re co-workers, friends or family members, now is the time to move forward and remove anyone holding you back in your life.

Here are some of the toxic people you’re better off leaving behind you this year:

Negative, angry people who complain about their situation, but never do anything to change it. Don’t let someone else’s negative vibes affect your life.

People who are nice to your face, but mean behind your back. Unfortunately, there’s no way these types of people are going away, but you can stop playing their game.

Sucking-out people who are not caring, supportive or interested in what’s important or best for you, but suck the joy out of your good news and twist it into something negative.

People who because of their underhanded negativity diminish your happiness with their fake concern and always find reasons why your good news isn’t great. They poke holes in your accomplishments and manage to find storm clouds in even the sunniest skies.

Critical people who find fault with much of what you do and will take every opportunity to point out a flaw. They often have low self-esteem and may be projecting their own insecurities onto the people around them.

People who aren’t giving you back what you’re giving them, whether it is love, free food, friendship or even a text message. Relationships between people are a two-way street, so this year you should be keen to end one-sided relationships.

Judgemental people who don’t want to be judged. If someone tries to judge you for anything – being different, or whatever – remove them from your life this year. We’re all allowed to like whatever we want.

People who don’t respect you or doubt you. This year, surround yourself with people who respect you and believe in you. That’s what will help make your dreams come true.

Users who demand your time, energy and resources without taking your own wants and needs into consideration. When it’s convenient, they can make you feel valuable and loved. But when it’s not, they’ll leave you feeling rejected or insecure.

People who keep track of your every mistake so they can use them against you in the future. They point out your faults and how you’re never really there for them. They are always keeping score, and you’ll never get enough points.

Poisonous partners: though toxic romantic relationships can be difficult to end, especially when the other person refuses to take “no” for an answer, cutting this person out of your life is often the best and healthiest decision you can make this year.
