- The 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA set an attendance record that still stands today. A total of 3,587,538 spectators watched the 52 matches, an average of almost 69,000 per game.

- No host team has ever lost an opening match.

- Germany is the team to have played the most 3rd/4th place matches, winning four out of five.

- Most goals ever scored in a final is seven, in the 1958 match between Brazil and Sweden, which ended 5-2.

- A foreign coach has never managed a FIFA World Cup winner.
