“Inspirations of Fuchsia” is the latest exhibition of paintings by Farghali Abdel-Hafiz, currently on show at the Zamalek Art gallery’s Venue I. Farghali’s work is rooted in an identification with his environment. His studio in Dahshour, one of the most historical sites in Egypt, provides a sanctuary of peace and spirituality that can be seen and felt in his paintings. Throughout his outstanding career, Abdel-Hafiz has explored various styles and approaches. His brushstrokes are typically spontaneous and his palette is always growing. He experimented with different media such as oil, aquarelle, pencils, acrylics, corn stalk, sand, mud, clay and metals. A multi-faceted and versatile artist, Abdel Hafiz’s work has never ceased to captivate and excite.

Born in Dairout, Middle Egypt, in 1941, Farghali Abdel-Hafiz is a graduate of the Institute of Art Education and the Academy of Fine Art in Florence. In 1989, he was elected Dean of the Faculty of Art Education, a position he occupied until 1994. He has continued to teach at the same faculty since.

The exhibition continues through 1 April.
