Entre Nous: The art of repurposing

Let’s talk about better living! Our new interactive family corner aims to expand our lifestyle horizons with practical little pearls of wisdom from the editor and input from our readers.

Finding new uses for old items is a method of recycling, a break with tradition and a great way to add that touch of fun into your space. Unlike up-cycling, repurposing means that the original object is not modified, but could be very slightly improved, re-painted... etc. These are some creative new uses for old things that might inspire you:

A frame of an old mirror used for hanging up jewellery.

A mouse trap used as a magnet clip after removing the unneeded bits of the mouse trap and giving it a decorative one-two punch with bright paint and some 3D clip art.

Old handbags made into frames for vintage photos.

Upside-down table repurposed into toddler bed.

A magazine rack can be used as a pot lid holder.
