The exhibition showcases artworks created by 42 artists from the contemporary Egyptian art scene. Curator of the exhibition Ezmeralda Haddad pointed that the salon plays a crucial role every year in advancing the art movement in Cairo. She added that this year's round honours late veteran artist Farouk Wagdi who occupies a very distinguished position in the Egyptian art movement who gained his reputation for depicting Egypt's authentic landscape, customs, traditions and folk heritage. Born in the Delta provincial town of Dessouk and brought up in the beautiful surroundings and natural beauty of the Egyptian countryside, Wagdi's paintings are overwhelmed by motifs inspired by the folklore of the Egyptian alley, the countryside as well as Coptic, Islamic and Pharaonic art. Wagdi used to create most of his entire oeuvre on the angelic voice of great singer and composer Mohamed Abdel-Wahab.

The painting in the picture is by Farouk Wagdi

The exhibition is on until 9 June.
