If you want a break from the office or your home, turn to a small and simple activity that clears your head and calms you down.

Here are some proven stress-busters that will help you cope:

1. Take a walk

Slip out the door and let your feet take you somewhere. Walking will give you the opportunity to clear your head and take a break.

2. Call a friend

Call someone whose voice alone perks you up, even for a few minutes. Chatting and listening to a story or a joke will put a smile on your face and calm you down.

3. Write in a journal                                                                                                                                      

Keeping a journal is a way to capture your feelings at any moment. Expressing your feelings could be the best way to deal with stress. By the time you’re done, those feelings will be on their way out of your system.

4. Play a board game                                                                                                                           

Quick kids’ games like Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Connect Four or even Twister are always good for a smile. If you have a few hours to spare, Monopoly will do the trick.

5. Work up a sweat

Exercisingis the best way to get rid of pent up frustrations. Pop in a pregnancy workout tape or head outside for a walk. You’ll be too busy working up a sweat to worry about what’s stressing you out.

6. Plan something fun                                                                                                                            

Arrange now for your dream trip that you never had time for or a nice place to dine where you’ve always wanted to go. It’s a win-win situation that will not only take your mind off things, but will also make you allow you to spend time eagerly anticipating a great getaway or meal later.

7. Take a nap

Laying down in a quiet room, even for a mere hour, is the remedy. This will give your mind time to de-clutter and your body a chance to recuperate.
