DIY teeth whitening

Fall is a hard season on your pearly whites, what with all those coffees and teas you will be drinking to keep yourself warm. Here are some efficient, homemade and budget-friendly remedies to keep your teeth white.

To achieve white teeth, gently rub the inside of a banana peel on your teeth for about two minutes once or twice a day. Minerals such as potassium, manganese and magnesium that bananas are known for are absorbed into your teeth and help keep them looking their best. You may get the same results by using the inner layer of orange peels.

Mash up a strawberry then mix it with a small amount of baking soda to create your own whitening toothpaste. The acids in the strawberry work to polish and whiten your teeth. Limit this remedy to about once a month.

Pour a small amount of hydrogen peroxide on top of your normal toothpaste before brushing, or on a cotton swab, and gently rub it on your teeth for a minute or two before brushing. Repeating this process for a couple of weeks will help you brighten your smile.

Another effective and safe method to make your teeth look their best is to apply olive oil. Use a clean cloth or cotton swab and apply to your teeth two to three minutes before your regular teeth-brushing routine.

And finally, dears, you may mix your favourite toothpaste with one teaspoon of baking soda, one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and half a teaspoon of water.

Apply the mixture to your teeth with a standard toothbrush. Brush as normal. Use this remedy once a week until you reach your desired results. Once you have achieved sparkling teeth, try to limit yourself to using this remedy just once a month.
