How to get there

M…VENPICK is a 15-minute drive from the new Al-Alamein Airport. The airport receives direct international flights from London every week. The best way to reserve a flight is through Peltours (www.peltours.com).

Al-Alamein is also accessible by car for those already in Cairo and Alexandria. Although it would take you around four hours to reach Al-Alamein by land, a car would also allow you mobility along the North Coast.

There is a shortcut to Al-Alamein. It's located a little after Master (a highway café) to your left. The route takes almost 45 kilometres off the trip.

Where to stay

Mövenpick is the only five-star hotel in the area. Rates range from LE550 for a double (B&B) room on week days and LE700 on weekends. In August, if you book five nights, you get the sixth free.

There is the four-star Al-Alamein Hotel which offers a view of the sea at more affordable prices.
