Turkey's presidential elections


THE LONGEST and most contentious presidential elections in Turkey's history ended Tuesday with victory for Justice and Development Party candidate Abdullah Gul. Nearly three-quarters of Turks have no objections to First Lady Hayrunisa Gul wearing the Islamic headscarf, but want the president to be impartial, a public opinion poll published the same day showed.
